Hiring... Pain Points?

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about the pain points that we experienced when hiring sales professionals for our organization when I was a contractor. One of the things that we had to work the hardest at was training. Whenever we very first started, our training program pretty much consisted of giving a brand new hire a stack of contracts, a few business cards, pointing them to a hail map, and telling them to go out and sell something and then come back. As we tried harder and harder to work on our hiring methods, I found that the intricacies and complexities of being a roofing contractor are almost impossible to teach in such a short amount of time. We ended up teaching them the same technology over and over again and not getting anywhere. As a contractor I decided that there had to be a better way. First we started by teaching them Roof 101. Just the basics of what is on a roof. What they are looking for, etc. Then from there we took that information and formulated a spreadsheet.  Unfortunately, once we got to the point where we are financing jobs, the spreadsheet became obsolete because of the large amount of financing options available to the homeowner. That is essentially what bred HIRevPro. Once we had HIRevPro all that we had to do was teach them how to pull an EagleView or e360, identify the roofing products that the homeowner would like to see on their roof, and put together an easy proposal. They were then able to offer three quotes all at the same time. Accurately, quickly, and precisely. As a company owner I know that it can be hard to hire sales professionals, and one of the biggest points of frustration is the moment that your new hire decides all of a sudden to go elsewhere, start their own company, or even worse leave the industry completely and throwing all of the knowledge that you helped them gain out the window. Luckily HIRevPro has made it much easier to train a sales professional. We hope that you'll find the tool absolutely necessary for your business, and that it creates more profitability for you as a company owner.
